KEANEKARAGAMAN JENIS BURUNG DI TAMAN HUTAN RAYA SULTAN SYARIF HASYIM PROVINSI RIAU (Diversity of Bird Types in Sultan Syarif Hasyim Great Forest Park Riau Province)

Bird are animals that have an important role in the process of forest succession, play a role in
spreading seeds, helping pollination, and balancing ecosystems. Sultan Syarif Hasyim Great Forest
Park (TAHURA) is a conservation area that has quite alarming conditions, from a forest area of 6,172
hectares, only ± 2,000 hectares are left forested, while the rest have acacia forest cover, shrubs, oil
palm plantations, rubber plantations The purpose of this study was to identify the diversity of bird
species and the spread of bird species in TAHURA Sultan Syarif Hasyim, Riau Province. The method
used for observing this bird is the IPA (Index Point Of Abundance) method or count point. Birds in
TAHURA Sultan Syarif Hasyim has 71 birds species from 34 families and 13 orders, there are 5
nocturnal birds. Diversity index (H ') ranged from 3.19 - 3.92, type of Evenness index (E) ranged from
0.88 - 0.92 and species richness index (R) ranged from 2.14 - 4.28. Vertical distribution of bird
species in TAHURA Sultan Syarif Hasyim in the central canopy with 50 species, and upper canopy
with 36 species. The daily activities of birds generally forage, with the dominant type of food being
insects (insectivores).
